Entrepreneurship in Education: Doan Winkel, Building a New Student Learning Experience

Doan Winkel

The current model of learning in higher education doesn’t work. The time-based system of education (i.e., Carnegie units) has destroyed the potential of generations. Some are moving toward competency-based, problem-based learning, where students progress based on demonstrating what they know and can do. But that’s not enough—we need to move toward mastery learning that matters, where students progress based on portfolios of application in areas that matter to them.

In this webinar, guest Doan Winkel of John Carroll University will join us to discuss how he is working to impact higher education for the better.

About our Guest

“I have the privilege of serving the John Carroll University community as the John J. Kahl, Sr. Chair in Entrepreneurship, the Director of the Muldoon Center for Entrepreneurship, the Executive Director of the Entrepreneurs Association, an Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship, the Founding Director of the Donnelly School of Leadership and Social Innovation, and Faculty Lead of the Master of Science in Innovation and Entrepreneurship program.

I also had the privilege of serving for nearly ten years on the Board of Directors (most recently as President-Elect) of the United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USASBE), a national association of nearly 1,000 college and university entrepreneurship educators working to advance entrepreneurship education through bold teaching, scholarship, and practice.”
