When Johanna Miller started the Ice House Entrepreneurship Program at the University of Missouri Kansas City’s SBDC, she knew how to knit a sock and wanted to open her own yarn store, but didn’t have the business savvy to pull all the threads together.
“I never thought of myself as a business person. I didn’t think I could learn the things needed to run my own business. And I was very scared.”
Today, she’s turning a profit on her business and putting all of that money back into growth. “I never thought I could start a company from the ground up, and I have. Knowing that I can accomplish anything if I set my mind to it, and I really want to do it, has been super empowering for me.”
